Tim Benson's Inner Space is a true indoor/no-wind kite. It will
fly in a wind range of 0-5mph, but is most comfortable in the 0-2 range.
It's unsual for an indoor kite in that it is still a full 7' sail span.
It has incredible forward drive; the slightest tension on the lines is
enough to keep it moving through the air. Once the drive stops it
has an uncanny knack of being able to glide in almost any position, enabling
a whole new range of trick flying, especially 3D moves. Hand launches
are especially good with this kite, my favourite is what I call a turtle
launch - kite on its back, nose away, and glide it out away from you.
It stops dead at the end of the lines and the nose pops up for you
to fly away. I've found it best to fly the kite on very short lines
for no-wind/indoor conditions, about 15-20'. Outdoors in a breeze,
it's happy on longer lengths, even up to 50-60'.
As usual for a Benson the build standard is impeccable, and there is
nothing but the lightest and best materials used in it. The only
weakness I've found is that the leading edge tape (which is a very light
rip-stop) is not very durable for outdoor flying (leading edge drags are
a big no-no!!)
