Dual-Line Competition Kites

The 2001 season has ended with me in 4th place Precision and 6th place Ballet. The Pizazz kites have done very well for me and I think I finally have them figured out. Now, I just need to spend a lot more time practicing and getting my "key elephants" down... who knows, maybe I'll even work out a Freestyle and Ballet routine.

There are five kites that I use now:

  • Super Ultralight
  • (0-7 MPH)
  • Ultralight
  • (2-12 MPH)
  • Standard
  • (6-15 MPH)
  • Vented
  • (12-20 MPH)
  • Heavy Vented
  • (16-?? MPH)

I've been working on flying two kites at once. To that end, I now have two kites to match my current competition set:

  • Ultralight
  • (2-12 MPH)
  • Vented
  • (12-20 MPH)

These kites are made by the very talented kite maker, Dick Barnes, of Pizazz KiteWorks in Coupeville, WA.

This year at the Fort Worden Kitemaker's Conference, I got a chance to make my very own Pizazz kite thanks to Dick teaching a class at the conference. The kite came out so well, I'm going to try to make a set of three kites that I can fly together (is that ambition or what?). I'll try to get pictures later...

You can follow my competition progress at the American Kiteflyers Association's (AKA) 2001 NorthWest Conference Standings. My individual standings show how I'm doing so far this season.

I am sponsored by Cutting Edge Kites in Ocean Shores, WA. Cutting Edge is supporting me in kites, lines, and winders.
