| Power/Traction |
Certain kites are designed to focus on pull or power rather than outright agility or trick-ability. The longstanding Flexifoil range are very popular. Kites designed for power are, more often than not, of a foil design. Such kites are often not for the faint hearted and if of sufficient size and/or in a big wind can pull you along very easily (known as Scudding) and are often used to power a buggy, boat, surfboard or for jumping. ![]() Kite Surfing - Using a board similar to that used in windsurfing but powered by specialist kites such as the Wipika Wing ![]() an aerial view of kite surfing in action - from Kite Surfing |
| Precision |
Precision is a style of kite flying which focuses on very accurate turns and "figures" in the sky. Most teams are specialists at flying a number of kites in coordinated patterns and tricks. Precision Kites tend to be slower through the air and typically turn more slowly and precisely. They fly well in a straight line with little tendency to veer away from a steered straight line of flight. |
