Ease of Access:

Very easy access with car

Facilities:

There is quite often a burger van near where you turned off the A1036. This serves all the coach drivers who park here while their passengers enjoy the delights of York. The racecourse is a huge open area of short grass that is open to the public. Only slight problem is that it is surrounded by trees that can sometimes make the air a bit turbulent.

Directions:

Approach the South of York on the A64 and take the A1036 towards the city (it is signposted The Racecourse). Follow the road towards the centre for about 1-1/2 miles and, as you come over a slight rise, you will see trees on your right - you can see the racecourse through them. Turn right at the end of the racecourse down a road lined with trees. Park anywhere on this road but best spot is on the right just as the road bends sharply to the left.

Other Comments:

This is where York Kite Flyers meet on the first Sunday of the month at about 2pm. No problem as there is plenty of room for everyone. Usually someone there most Sundays, weather permitting.
