HISTORY
2000
The team was formed in January of that year.
But it had begun before with the Engineer Jorge Offermann, flying solitary his
Obsession, in the typical meeting of Batoco, on Sunday's mornings. He always
flew his set of Spectra Sky Sport Reactor: Pro, Nuclear and Plus years before.
Lalo Loescher joined him, with his Atelier du Cerf Volant Excess.
During that summer, already with the Reactor Pro as the kite chosen and acquired
for the team and with Héctor Cesaretti as an occasional third pilot, they flew
some days during the week in San Isidro, from 5 to 8 p.m. On Saturday's
afternoon, they began to go to the Parque Indoamericano that is in
Buenos Aires downtown.
In this park they met two boys that when they saw the maneuvers the team flew,
began to try to fly also, but in a pair, with their different kites.
They were Ariel Ballerini and Claudio Mengoni who quickly also bought their
Reactor Pro.
In this way, they were already five, with equal kites and with 45 meters lines.
At the end of year 2000 they made a toast with champagne in the Parque
Indoamericano.
They were on the right track!
2001
With this formation they went to the Disorganized Barrileteada of Batoco (internal
kite festival), carried out in Nueva Atlantis, a beach little town, on March 31 to April 2, 2001,
although Jorge could not go.
Four members of Batoco bought their kites after seeing the advances made by the
team, but of these four members, finally, only Sergio Testai coupled seriously (seriously?)
Then they had the necessity of a kite for soft wind, since the Reactor Pro could
not fly well under those conditions of wind.
For the design of one that fullfills the aspirations of the group, they took
reference from internet plans, mainly the Raaseri. Its construction was ordered
to Alto Vuelo.
The kite's name is FT.
First they work on a prototype, on which were proven different long of spars and
standoffs, as well as different bridles. When they were satisfied with its
performance, six copies of it were ordered.
The performance of the FT is very good: when no one can fly for lack of wind,
the FT still does.
With this formation and equipment, they were tempted by Alto Vuelo to have their
official premiere in front of public, in the First Festival of Kites "Let's
Paint Rosario's Sky 2001" that was organized with MUNDO Hobby, the local shop of
kites in
Rosario City.
And there they went, on September 8 and 9, with several members of Batoco, to
collaborate with this festival.
In spite of the fact that the wind was not good, they were able to make their
show; on Saturday wind was lower than on Sunday, when lots of people went to th
Festival.
It was a total success for them.
After their premiere, they continued practicing every Saturday, already
definitively, at Paseo de la Costa.
At this time a 16 year-old boy, Andrés Vázquez, began collaborating as hint
assistant, being that he already flew his kite. Slowly, he was instructed and
they lent him their kites. He is the current seventh member.
At the same time, the most fanatic and young flyer in the team join us:
Matías Cerbone. With his 12 years and always accompanied by his father, Néstor,
he has made his first incursions flying the FT with the team on days of soft
wind (sometimes he needs to be grabbed to avoid to fly off with the blasts).
As a part of the activities of that year, they had the dinner (barbacue) of
year's end at Ariel's, where the existence of the group was celebrated (Sergio
where was you?).
That night, Ezequiel Ballerini, 10 years old Ariel's son, committed to be a member
of the Team Junior, with Matías.
2002
January
They have another fanatic flyer for Team Junior: Ezequiel Fernández (11. Eleven
what? years
old? you sure?) who demonstrates very good aptitudes for flight and also he has his
parents support the whole day at Paseo de la Costa.
In those moments they tried to define what kite made by Alto Vuelo they would
modify to be used by the Team Junior. It was tried to achieve a kite, of 1.80
meters span that could be also vented, in order to reduce costs for the boys
that would wante to join the team.
They were also making the final tests for the vented Reactor Pro sewed by
Claudio Mengoni, being already cutted the sails for two copies more.
In that time Pablo Rey and Matías Barone were added to the Team Junior, waiting
for the definition of the kite, flying with the Senior's kite, if the wind
allowed it.
April
Once defined the FT as the kite for the Team Junior (using nappies for the days
of strong wind), the realization of the of FT Serie II was ordered to Alto
Vuelo.
May
On May 5, Juniors PR and EF flew for the first time their FT.
June
The first video of El Fabuloso Team was finished by Fernández Family.
July
Pablo Macchiavello is added definitively to the group, using for the first time
his FT Series III, smoke gray and orange.
They were invited to make their show at the Air Festival of Morón.
Emilio Menéndez and Fabián Fernández join the team.
They are the new flyers for a new team.
Juan Ignacio Baldassarre shows his interested in this flight type.
Trainings for Moron.
Meeting at the studio of PM to see videos and to define routines.
August
They continue the trainings.
The Team Junior, now with its leader (EF) calling the maneuvers. Flying by themselves.
The trainings are continued for Moron.
Moron would be: four Seniors: JO, LL, AB, HC. Three Junior: MC, EF, PR. They
will be supported in the show by the other pilots, parents and siblings.
They presented in the Second Meeting of National Aviation Moron 2002. It would
be the premiere of the Team Junior.
They had three presentations on Saturday, with the music of the movie Mission:
Impossible. The teller went reading the text that they prepared and adding text
where necesary.
On Sunday they could not fly because it was raining the whole day.
September
They attend the Second Festival of Kites "Let's Paint Rosario's Sky 2002"
October and November
They continued flying and begin to organize the first internal competition.
December
They have the first internal competition on December 14th.
Four STACK compulsory maneuvers were used:
-Infinity downwards
-Pyramid
-Octagon
-split-up figures eight
The result was:

2003
January - February
Months of summer vacations. We are in the south hemisphere.
March - April
Time for internal reorganization. Choosing objectives and goals. Definition of
individual commitments.
Teams for Fun and competitive are defined.
Discussions. Estrangements. Those who always wanted something more than a while
of fly in team continue in it.
Only one competitive SeniorTeam is defined: AB, FF, LL, with HC as support #3.
Pablo R. decides to stop to fly with the Team Junior (competitive), because of
time and dedication and he will fly with Senior pilots for Fun
The only competitive Senior team begun to design and learn its routine.
The Junior, now as a duet, begins to prepares a new routine.
May - June
We continue with the practice of the routines. We ad more maneuvers to it.
We were invited to the Kite Festival of Rosario City.
Al Hargus III sent us a box full of routines and a 3 hours VHS video, with
selected routines from World Challenge.
La Tropita was born: they are Gastón (10) y Julián (8) Fernández. They will
debut at
Rosario Kite Festival.
July-August
Pablo Macchiavello is father for the first time: Luca , his son, a new kiter.
Presentation in the Third Festival of Kites "Let's Paint Rosario's Sky 2002",
where the Team Tropita debuts.
September - October
They begin with the sketch of a new kite: it must be good for the children,
since still they don't possess theirs, but it must fulfill the requirement of
flying with low wind, but also with a lot of wind, making it vented. That is to
say: broad range.
Ezequiel Ballerini, pilot Senior Ariel's son, begins to train with his father,
in order to being integrated to the Team Junior.
On October 7 the invitation to participate in Berck sur Mer, France arrives,
the only competition with which it is defined the world champion team of this
flight modality.
It is a hard decision because of all that implies and for the things that are
needed to go and to obtain a presentation for the level required.
Keeping in mind the quantity of time of training and the necessary commitment,
we decides that Ezequiel Fernández, after being consulted, will join Team Senior
definitely, as pilot position #3, the position that he flew as substitute of
Héctor in the trainings and in Rosario 2003. He will continue as the captain of
the Team Junior.
So it is established the team and pilots' position that will go to Berck sur Mer:
#1 Lalo Loescher (47)
#2 Ariel Ballerini (42)
#3 Ezequiel Fernández (13)
#4 Fabián Fernández (39).
We look for antecedents of the two previous editions of Berck su Mer, in order
to know previous experiences, to estimate how difficult it can be and what
climatic conditions we could suffer.
All these accelerates the project of the new vented kite, thinking in winds of
45 km/h that are habitual in Berck sur Mer.
An invitation arrives, with big possibilities of obtaining all the expenses
payments, to attend the most important festival of comets in India, Ahmedabad in
Gujarat, in January of 2004. Kindly we responded that for commitments already
taken (France), we won't be able to attend, because the time that are needed to
get ready for the competition. It is hoped to attend in the 2005.
After several meetings with Guillermo and José Luis, Alto Vuelo CEOS, the
sponsorship for El Fabuloso Team heading for France 2004 is signed.
At October's end the trainings on Tuesday begins, besides the habitual
Saturday's one. It is defined and edited the music for the modality Ballet: a
tango. Ezequiel and Fabián Fernández present the team the first part of the
technical routine for France, made in the software Cyberkite.
It is presented to the team the scale plane of the new kite and its innovation.
November - December
The final plan of the new kite is given to Alto Vuelo so the construction of a
prototype begins.
The prototype of the new kite is tested one day with 40 km/h. It flies very well.
Already with the sponsorship by Alto Vuelo, El Fabuloso Team begins to sell
stunt kites in its habitual flight place, as a part of the agreement and to get
some funds for the expenses for France. El Fabuloso Team doesn't consider this a
commercial activity, but as the best way of achieving those people that comes
closer to see them flying and to congratulate them, be contagious and begin in
this sport.
The prototype is tested with very low winds. The bridles are changed. The
prototype now is OK.
On December 26 the invitation letter arrived, in official letterhead, of the
Office of Tourism of Berck sur Mer, the organizer of this Festival; it is
expected that this letter will allow to achieve the economic support from
companies for the plane tickets and the numerous expenses that the team has and
will have.
The trainings are already three per week: the days are Tuesday and Thursday,
from 18:30 to 22:00 hours and Saturdays in the afternoon, in the Paseo de la
Costa, Vicente López. Whenever the weather conditions accompanies.
They are getting ready the presentation portfolios to request support to several
companies. A raffle to collect money for the immediate expenses is set. The
economic support from everyone that wants to give a hand is accepted; their
names will figure in the list of Benefactors of El Fabuloso Team, in the website.
Alto Vuelo in spite of the heavy load of work begins at the end of December with
the urgent production of the five kites that should be neccesary to practice for
France.
There are lots of work, sacrifice and time dedicated for the preparations to end
up traveling in time and OK, with routines worthy for a World cup, dressed as a
team, with the air tickets payed by sponsors, with the necessary kites, spending
time of the vacations and of our families, whole afternoons of 30°C under the
sun. But it is also a pleasure.
We thank the help of the other members of the team:
Emilio Menéndez in the trainings days during the week. He won't fly, he come to
help.
Pablo Macchiavello with the design and art and with Héctor Cesaretti, in the
constuction of the banner of El Fabuloso Team that will be taken to France.
The Embassy of Argentina in France's support confirmation is received. They also
will send an official letter where it will highlighted the importance of the
Festival of Berck sur Mer. This should help get other sponsors.
