Buenos Aires First Kite
Festival 2004 This festival was a landmark for kiting in Buenos Aires. All Buenos Aires kite enthusiasts always had dreamt with a local kite festival, but it needed too much work and there was always obstacles with the municipality. Our sponsor, Alto Vuelo took the risk and begun to work in order to obtain a date for the Festival. Once they got it, Batoco and El Fabuloso Team compromised their assistance. The Festival was at the Paseo de la Costa park, besides the Río de la Plata, in the exact place where we have our practices; the central arena is home for us. The weather was delightful: wind from the river, 15 km/h (10 miles/h); temperature rise 30° C, but very nice. Alto Vuelo introduced its new 2005 kite's models to the audience. El Fabuloso Team flew the new model for team and precision called ALMA. Batoco put all its kites and arches and made a Rokkaku battle. El Fabuloso Team flew all their routines and teams and they ended flying a 7 kites "megateam" with instructions to pilots through the PA system, so spectators could hear and understand the commands and figures they flew. It was a memorable festival. We hope next year it grows enough so we could have kite flyers from other cities and a competence for our Sport Team Kite National Championship.
