Our first ever evnt was a Kite Fun day on Sunday 7th May 2000 as 'warm up' for the village Millennium Kite Day which was a tremendous success. This was not an organised festival but just as we say a fun day where kite flyers got together and enjoyed our sport and introduced a lot more people in kiting.
As we were setting things up we were concerned at the lack of wind, not a breath. As the afternoon progressed we had an erratic breeze that swung from south east to south and didn't get above a gentle force 2. This didn't spoil the day as over 200 people turned up and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We ran a competition in conjuction with Chale Primary School for the children in the after school 'Craft Club' to make a simple sled kite with the prize being a Flexifoil Xtro, kindly donated by Carl of Trick of the Eye Kites in Guernsey.
All in all a very encouraging start to our 'events organistaion'
